1998   Nineteen European nations sign an agreement to prohibit human cloning including: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Moldova, Norway, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Turkey.

1998   The Social Democrat Party of Danish Prime Minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen narrowly defeat the Venstre Party in a national election in Denmark.

2000   Nine people are trampled to death and 30 are injured during a Pearl Jam performance at the Roskilde Festival in Copenhagen, Denmark

2003   The Letter of the Eight is signed by leaders of eight countries including the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Denmark, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic, demonstrating support for the United States' plans to invade Iraq.

2004   Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark, marries Australian Mary Donaldson in Copenhagen, Denmark.
