Supreme Court of the United States Timeline

1991   After an extensive debate over the allegations of sexual misconduct, the United States Senate senate votes 52-48 to confirm the appointment of Judge Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court of the United States.

1998   The presidential line-item veto is declared unconstitutional by a United States District Court Judge. The ruling is later upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States.

2005   William Rehnquist, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, dies.

2005   John Roberts is sworn in as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.
